Que veut dire "cycling in Rajasthan" ? ...

 C'est une expérience unique : rouler dans une ville indienne au milieu des motos, scooters, touk-touk, taxi camions et camionnettes, des vaches sacrées ou non, des ânes, des chiens et autre animaux ; éviter les trous, les saignées, les tas d'ordures et autres pièges d'une voirie incertaine ; le tout au son des multiples Klaxons, cornes et sonneries ... Personne ne freine, personne ne crie tout le monde cherche à passer sans jamais s'arrêter... Pas question de priorité ou autre règle de conduite sinon celle d'avancer ! 

Au début  on est un peu effrayé, rapidement on comprend qu'il ne faut pas s'occuper des autres mais qu'il faut, comme eux avancer... Alors on s'amuse dans cette circulation démente comme dans un parc d'attraction... Ici les nombreux dieux nous protègent et en cas d'accident on est assuré d'une réincarnation !

Transit international !

Nous prenons le train à Mouchard pour Lyon direct en 2 heures puis le tram entre la gare de la Part Dieu et l'aéroport Saint Exupery. Un vol de la turkish airline nous mène à Istambul en 3h10. 

Nous voyageons avec Hanna, franco marocaine qui va à Istambul pour se marier avec un turc. Ils se sont connus sur internet il y a 4 ans ; il ne parle pas le français ni l'arabe et elle ne parle pas turc. Elle est venue une première fois le rencontrer et maintenant ils vont se marier... Comme elle a deux filles d'un premier mariage avec un allemand elle ne viendra pas vivre en Turquie... La famille se mondialise, nous vivons une époque moderne !

Transit à Istambul, un autre vol de 6h et voilà New Delhi, son magnifique aéroport, des formalités rapides et un agent d'Exodus qui nous attend pour nous accompagner à l'hôtel. Nous sommes étonnés par le brouillard et une température bien fraîche d'une dizaine de degrés.

Quelques heures plus tard... Le groupe est arrivé et nos accompagnateurs présentent le séjour puis nous essayons et réglons les vélos. Demain c'est la fête nationale aussi nous partirons visiter Delhi a 7h !

Explore the palaces, temples and wildlife of India's colourful desert state by bike

Rajasthan has landscapes varying from green rolling hills to barren deserts. The whole state is dotted with dramatic fortresses, reminders of the Rajputs and their warrior past, while away from the desert the countryside is a patchwork of villages and small towns where we can see the timelessness of rural India.

Cycling is the perfect way to explore, offering a fascinating insight into the traditional way of life here. From Jodhpur our journey takes us first to the beautiful lakeside city of Udaipur, and on to the holy town of Pushkar.

Leaving the desert scenery behind we ride to Jaipur, a town overlooked by the splendid hilltop Amber Palace. We also visit Sariska National Park, beautifully located and home to an abundance of wildlife.

A fitting way to finish the trip is at the magnificent Taj Mahal, one of the new seven wonders of the world.

Start Delhi; transfer to hotel.

Day 2

Morning cycle tour of quieter parts of New Delhi; afternoon sightseeing tour of Old Delhi; overnight train to Jodhpur.

Day 3

Arrive Jodhpur; free morning then afternoon city cycle tour including Mehrangarh Fort.

Day 4

Ride/drive to Udaipur via 15th Century Jain Temple at Ranakpur; cycle towards stunning lakeside town of Udaipur.

Day 5

Cycle tour of the ancient Hindu capital of Udaipur and its surroundings including City Palace and Jagdish Temple

Day 6

Ride on secluded backroads to the fort of Kumbhalgarh.

Day 7

Ride/drive to the holy town of Pushkar on backroads; optional walk to the hilltop temple for sunset.

Day 8

Ride/drive to Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, via rural villages and Rupnagar.

Day 9

Sightseeing tour of Jaipur, including the City Palace, the observatory of Jai Singh and the Hawa Mahal.

Day 10

Ride/drive to Sariska N.P. via Pratap Garh.

Day 11

Morning game drive; optional village visit by bike or camel cart.

Day 12

Ride/drive to Bharatpur N.P., renowned for its fantastic bird sanctuary.

Day 13

Early morning explore bird sanctuary by bike; late morning cycle to Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted royal city; transfer to Agra and visit the Taj Mahal at sunset.

Day 14

Visit Agra Fort; transfer to Delhi; evening free.

Day 15

End Delhi.
